The San Fernando Valley Faith and Services Coalition, including Parks Chapel AME Church, San Fernando, is proud to announce that Los Angeles Mayoral Dialogue on Homelessness and Housing will be held on the evening of March 21, 2022 with Los Angeles Times reporter, Ben Oreskes moderating. Confirmed participants are mayoral candidates Congresswoman Karen Bass, Councilmember Kevin de Leon, Councilmember Joe Buscaino, and City Attorney Mike Feuer. The event is sponsored by a coalition that includes community and religious leaders, faith and service organizations and advocacy groups within in the San Fernando Valley The program will focus on issues of homelessness, housing and food insecurity. It will differ from other debates in that community leaders will be directly participating in the dialogue and sponsoring organizations will be able to share their materials with candidates and attendees.
Rabbi Sarah Hronsky, Senior Rabbi of Temple Beth Hillel, explained, “We are a community passionate about caring for the unhoused, and quickly identified the issues of homelessness, affordable housing and food insecurity as the most important areas of focus for the next mayor of LA. We wanted to bring the candidates forward in dialogue with service providers and houses of faith, and with each other to both learn the candidates’ thoughts and to begin what we hope will be bridges that lead towards partnership of service once a candidate is elected.” The goal is to go beyond generalities to discuss solutions to these problems and to show important models of collaborative action taking place in the San Fernando Valley.
